Pop R&B singer-songwriter AJ Mitchell is having the time of his life. Since signing with Epic Records at the start of 2018, it’s been a crazy adventure and one that AJ’s been dreaming about since he first began posting short-form videos and covers on social media back at a young age. This July, he released his debut EP, Hopeful, an energetic six-song collection and the start of a lifelong dream being fulfilled, “I named it that because through this whole process of posting videos online to releasing this EP, I was always hopeful that people would listen to my music and enjoy it.”
With the EP out now, AJ is on a nationwide press tour, promoting the record, and of course, meeting his fans. One of the stops included his first-ever television appearance on The Today Show where he performed his hit single, “Girls”. “It was my first time on TV. That experience was so exciting for me,” AJ told us exclusively.
From there, AJ headed to Flushing Meadows for Arthur Ashe Kids’ Day powered by Net Generation. Originally scheduled to appear on the AAKD Festival Stage, AJ learned on air at Radio Disney that he had been moved inside Arthur Ashe Stadium where he would sing in front of over 20,000 screaming fans, “I thought I was performing on the side stage and they told me I got bumped onto the main stage! I was like, ‘Wait, what?’ It’s really cool and I feel so fortunate to perform with all these amazing people.” Tune in on August 26th at 2 pm ET on ABC to catch his performance of “Girls”. It was the highlight of the day and a glimpse into what we expect are big things ahead.
Following the event, AJ will be heading on a 30-day radio tour and he encourages all of his fans to come out. Keep up with all the dates by following him on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
