Hollywood triple threat Harrison Cone is making some serious waves in the industry. This March, he’s putting all of his talents on display starring, singing, and dancing in Brat’s new must-see drama, Stage Fright. Pop Culturalist caught up with Harrison ahead of the premiere to learn more about the show and his character.
PC: You got your start doing musical theater. How did those experiences help prepare you for Stage Fright?
Harrison: It helped me a lot because I had to sing, act, and dance just like I do in Stage Fright. In musical theater, you have to be professional and know your lines, your lyrics, and choreography, so you can perform show after show, which prepares you for doing other types of performance.
PC: Tell us about Stage Fright, your character, and what drew you to this project.
Harrison: I’m so excited that Stage Fright will air this Thursday, March 26th. A duet I sang with Kimberly Girkin in the show will also be released the same day. It’s a great new show that has mystery, comedy, and drama with some musical theater mixed in. My character sings and is kind of in the middle of a love triangle, which makes his story interesting. I felt that this new Brat show seemed very unique and fun. I’ve always wanted to be on a comedy and mystery show, so this seemed like a great fit.
PC: How similar or different are you to your character Noah?
Harrison: I think we have a lot in common as far as loving to perform, being passionate, and determined about what we want to do with our lives…I think I’m probably a little more chill about it than he is, though. Also, Noah is all about musical theater and I produce my own music, but it’s more into pop music with elements of R&B, hip-hop, and alternative.
PC: What can you tease about Noah’s arc this season?
Harrison: I think he ends up getting hurt quite a bit. That’s all I’ll say.
PC: Did anything surprise you about the experience?
Harrison: I loved how fun my castmates were and how supportive the director was. The whole team was great to work with.
PC: What was the biggest takeaway?
Harrison: I think I gained a family and friends from the whole experience. I started writing and doing skits with Skyler Guthrie, who is one of the actors in the show. It’s been fun getting to know the other cast members.
PC: Were there any nerves heading into this project?
Harrison: Definitely! I wanted to do the best job I could, and I didn’t want to let anyone down in any way.
PC: Guilty pleasure TV show?
Harrison: Saturday Night Live
PC: Guilty pleasure movie?
Harrison: ’80s movies or artsy movies
PC: Favorite book?
Harrison: The Harry Potter series
PC: Favorite play or musical?
Harrison: The Book of Mormon is one of my favorite musicals.
PC: Who would play you in the story of your life?
Harrison: Me [laughs]
