Exclusive Interview: Pop Culturalist Chats with Gina DiGiorgio

Like many of today’s biggest pop stars, LA prodigy Gina DiGiorgio is taking her experiences from the stage and screen and bringing them to her music career. This July, she released a tongue-in-cheek anthem that you’ll have on repeat. Pop Culturalist caught up with Gina to learn more about her, her career, and “This Isn’t That.”

PC: How did you discover your passion for the arts?
Gina: I’ve been interested in the arts since I was young. I grew up doing musical theater and then eventually started creating pop music.

PC: Who or what has had the biggest influence on your career?
Gina: I’ve been inspired by a lot of artists throughout the years, such as The Beatles, Backstreet Boys, Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande, etc.

PC: What’s been the biggest lesson you’ve learned in theater and on-screen that you’ve been able to apply to your music career?
Gina: I’ve learned to always work hard and be innovative.

PC: Tell us about your new single, “This Isn’t That.” What inspired the song?
Gina: The song is about being yourself and not comparing your life to others. I wanted to create a song that would inspire and empower people during this difficult year.

PC: You worked with Andrew Lane on the single. How did that partnership come to fruition? Did he share any words of wisdom with you?
Gina: I’ve worked with Andrew for a long time, and we work well together. He always tells me to work hard, be persistent, and never give up.

PC: As we look ahead to the rest of 2020, what does the year hold for you?
Gina: I have a lot more music coming soon. Stay tuned!

PC: First concert you attended?
Gina: I was young when I saw Britney Spears in concert when she was in her prime back in the ’90s. That was a really good time!

PC: An album that changed your life and why?
