Exclusive Interview: Pop Culturalist Chats with Foursome’s Jenn McAllister

Jenn McAllister has had audiences in stitches as the lead character, Andie Fixler, on the longest-running YouTube Original series, Foursome. For three seasons, Andie has had her foursome by her side as she found love, experienced her first heartbreak, and so much more. But with graduation coming up, what does the future hold for everyone’s favorite foursome?

PC: At the end of season three, Andie makes her choice between Josh and Kent. What can you tease about that triangle moving forward?
Jenn: Season four is really exciting. It’s one where all the Jandie fans will get a ton of content. Josh and Andie are officially together. Kent is still obviously around. [laughs] There’s drama that ensues between the awkwardness of the situation.

PC: From the trailer, we learn that some of the Foursome will be graduating. How will that affect Andie this season and moving forward?
Jenn: A big theme of this season is change. Andie is having a really hard time dealing with it since her friends are graduating. This whole season is about having the most epic summer before everyone graduates and leaves. We also have a new foursome this season. The two new additions are Andie and Dakota’s friends from when they were children. They all get together and do this epic “Hot M.E.S.S.” list. It’s a really fun season, but you see Andie grappling with the future.

PC: Like you just said, there are a few new characters joining this season. Which of Andie’s new relationships was your favorite to explore and why?
Jenn: I think my favorite new relationship is with her cousin, Hugh—it’s a really fun relationship. I don’t want to give too much away, but they just really love each other. We had a blast filming those scenes.

PC: The foursome is re-living their most epic summer. Which was your favorite on the list and why?
Jenn: Hmm…we did so many! I think my favorite one (and it also happens that it was my favorite episode to shoot) was meeting the parents. It’s really fun for this show in particular because their parents are almost non-existent. We do a drunk history style episode where we go through different decades while the parents are telling stories.

PC: Foursome is the longest YouTube Original series. What does being a part of that milestone mean to you and your career?
Jenn: It’s incredible and such an honor. I’m so happy it’s this show and I’m even happier to be a part of it. It’s so much fun to film. I love the cast and the crew. We’ve done four seasons together and it’s been amazing coming back season after season and working with the same people again. We’re a big family.

PC: When you look back at the past four seasons, is there a moment that sticks out to you?
Jenn: I think a cool moment for me was winning a Streamy for acting; it’s the first award that I ever won in my career. It was especially cool because we were in the middle of filming another season during that time.

PC: We read that you initially auditioned for Imogen. Have you ever taken a step back and wondered what if?
Jenn: [laughs] The cast members and I always talk about that now. It’s so crazy. I feel so much like Andie, so it would have been extremely odd. It’s crazy how it happened: I went in for Imogen and then two months later I got an audition for Andie.

PC: If you could write a storyline for Andie, what would it be and why?
Jenn: [laughs] I don’t even know! I could talk up the writers of this show so much—they’re so talented. They come up with the best plot and storylines for this show. I have no idea…I’m not a writer at all. I think this season is really fun and I loved the concept. It’s basically a bucket list.

PC: You’re a content creator and have a popular series on your YouTube Channel. How do you think Andie and Fatty Tessie would get along?
Jenn: [laughs] It’s so funny because I actually think there are a lot of parallels between the two. One of them is that they’re both in love triangles. It’s funny, though, because as I’m playing through the series, I’m like, “this reminds me so much of Foursome.” They have a lot in common.

PC: Are you Team Jandie or Team Kandie? Has it changed throughout the seasons?
Jenn: It really has! At first, I was all Team Kandie, but I think now, I might be Team Jandie. I don’t know. We’ll see. [laughs]

High School Superlatives: Cast Edition

PC: Class Clown?
Jenn: Probably Rickey because he always makes people crack up on set. He’s the one person who makes me break while we’re filming.

PC: Biggest Flirt?
Jenn: It’s definitely Cameron [laughs]

PC: Best Dancer?
Jenn: Rickey. He literally does Instagram Stories on set of him dancing.

PC: Most Likely to Survive The Hunger Games?
Jenn: Probably me, but I bet if you ask other cast members who are playing this, they’d say themselves.

PC: Rahart said himself and Rickey said Cameron.

Jenn: Oh, interesting! Okay, I could see Cameron, but I’m still going with me.

PC: Most Likely to End up on Broadway?
Jenn: I’m trying to think of someone who can sing. I think I’m going to go with Rahart because he’s in a movie called Emo: The Musical. I’m going to say him. [laughs]

PC: Most Likely to be a Travel Blogger?
Jenn: Me. I feel like I travel the most out of everyone.

PC: Most Likely to Star in Their Own Reality Show?
Jenn: Rickey! I would watch that.
