Exclusive Interview: Pop Culturalist Chats with Danger Force’s Havan Flores

Havan Flores is ready to save the world as superhero-in-training Chapa on Nickelodeon’s Danger Force. The Henry Danger spinoff finds Captain Man (Cooper Barnes) teaching four ordinary kids with extraordinary gifts how to harness their uncontrollable powers to fight crime. Havan’s character Chapa is a force to be reckoned with (literally). She has the ability to generate electricity after the Omega Weapon explosion. Pop Culturalist caught up with Havan to chat about Danger Force and how her life has changed since landing her biggest role to date!

Career

PC: How did you discover your passion for acting?
Havan: I started by doing musical theater because I loved to sing. I also like cheer competition and being on a stage performing, so it all just came together!

PC: Who or what has had the biggest influence on your career?
Havan: My family! They have always supported me in the things I wanted to try.

PC: Is it a challenge to balance your career and life as a normal kid?
Havan: Sometimes. I’ve always been in athletics and on a team, so I know what it feels like to work for hours on one thing. But I do miss getting to play ball and see my friends.

Danger Force

PC: Tell us about Danger Force, your character, and what drew you to this project.
Havan: Danger Force is a great and funny show about four kids who suddenly have superpowers, and Captain Man tries to teach us to fight crime. My character, Chapa, is a fierce girl with lots of attitude. I really like the humor and the crew that I work with.

PC: What should fans know about Chapa? What can you tease about Chapa’s arc this season?
Havan: She’s always going to do things her way. She’s feisty. Chapa has a lot to learn.

PC: What role does Chapa play in the group?
Havan: Chapa is the tough girl. She likes to take action and not talk about getting things done.

PC: Danger Force is your first big television role as a series regular. Has anything surprised you about the experience? What’s been the biggest takeaway?
Havan: I really had nothing to gauge it against, so I was ready for anything. I guess just how nice everyone is. What I take away is that it’s all about hard work and having faith. I worked really hard and prayed really hard to be here, and I’m so thankful to get to do this!

PC: The four superheroes-in-training have to learn to harness their power in the series. If you could have a superpower, what would it be and why?
Havan: I would really love to be a shapeshifter. Then I could have any power at any time.

PC: Do you have a favorite moment/scene that you can’t wait for fans to see?
Havan: There’s so much that’s really cool. Hopefully, fans will like the special effects and get to laugh a lot.

PC: How does it feel to continue the Henry Danger legacy?
Havan: It’s great, it’s a lot of fun, and we get to start from such a good show.

To keep up with Havan, follow her on Instagram. Catch new episodes of Danger Force every Saturday at 8/7c on Nickelodeon.
