Avery Cyrus has quickly emerged as one of the top creators in the world. In just two years, she’s racked up over seven-million followers and over 220-million views on TikTok alone. Pop Culturalist was lucky enough to chat with Avery about her journey into content creation.
PC: How did you discover your passion for content creation?
Avery: It started on accident one summer, and I just went with it and slowly fell in love with it.
PC: Who or what has had the biggest influence on your career?
Avery: Probably my younger self. I get to do and make all the things twelve-year-old me wanted to.
PC: You’ve had a lot of success already in your career. When you look back, is there a moment that stands out?
Avery: The moment I found out I could do this as my full-time job was pretty mindblowing to me!
PC: What has been your favorite piece of content that you created? What’s been the most challenging?
Avery: The baby skateboard is definitely one of my favorites but was also the hardest. That video took like three days to complete.
PC: You’ve used your platform to bring awareness to causes and initiatives that you’re passionate about. How did you discover your voice as an advocate?
Avery: I’ve always known that influencers using their voices for advocacy is super important, but I think it really hit me when TikTok offered to donate $10,000 to a nonprofit of my choice if I made a video bringing awareness to it. I feel so honored that I got to participate in something like that.
PC: 2022 is shaping up to be an exciting year for you. Is there anything you can tease about what’s ahead?
Avery: This super cool company called Space Hero is going to send me and a couple other influencers to a space training program where we get to do the space centrifuge and a zero-gravity flight. I’m so excited!
PC: Guilty pleasure TV show?
Avery: Euphoria.
PC: Guilty pleasure movie?
Avery: Hannah Montana: The Movie.
PC: Favorite book?
Avery: Anatomy textbooks.
PC: Favorite play or musical?
Avery: Grease.
PC: A band or artist that fans would be surprised to learn is on your playlist?
Avery: Probably the Raconteurs.
