Ava Jules is one of the top lifestyle and beauty content creators of her generation. She’s using her platform to promote positivity and self-confidence while sharing tips and tricks for fashion, beauty, self-care, and everything in between. Pop Culturalist was lucky enough to catch up with Ava about an exciting new venture in her career!
PC: How did you discover your passion for content creation?
Ava: When I was little, I was always interested in my parents’ cameras and video cams. My sister and I would always film silly stuff and make up skits and songs and record them.
PC: Who or what has had the biggest influence on your career?
Ava: My managers at Select Management. They brought me on when I was under 100K on YouTube and showed me that there’s a whole world of possibilities out there for me.
PC: You’ve had a lot of success throughout your career. When you look back, is there a particular moment that stands out?
Ava: My first meet and greet was a moment I’ll never forget. Seeing the five-hundred-plus people who showed up and were so excited to see me made me feel so overwhelmed with joy and surprise.
PC: What’s one thing you know now that you wish you knew when you launched your channel over seven years ago?
Ava: You don’t have to pretend to be someone else or copy anyone else’s style. Have fun with it, be true to yourself, and simply laugh at anyone who makes fun of you for it.
PC: You’ve used your platform to promote body positivity and self-confidence. Why has that always been so important to you?
Ava: I’ve had my own experiences with these issues and I know what it feels like to be alone. To me, the most important thing is to share my story and advice with my viewers so that they know they have someone who’s on their side and rooting for them.
PC: You recently partnered with Hannah Meloche’s Starlite Village for a Hawaii-inspired jewelry collaboration. How did that come to fruition? What inspired the collection?
Ava: We were both in LA, hanging out at our Airbnb, when Hannah randomly looked at me and said, “Dude, we should do a jewelry collection together.” I was shocked and so excited that she asked me that. Of course I said, “Absolutely!” Hawai’i is so special to both of us and is a huge piece of our friendship since this is where we first met and became close. The pieces are inspired by the beauty of Hawaii’s nature and aloha.
PC: In addition to being a content creator, you’re also a sustainable fashion designer. What’s ahead in that facet of your career?
Ava: My dream is to create clothes and accessories that have a positive impact on people and the environment. I’m hoping to move forward with this and create something I’m really proud of and that people will love!
PC: Guilty pleasure TV show?
Ava: The Vampire Diaries and Gossip Girl.
PC: Guilty pleasure movie?
Ava: The entire Twilight series.
PC: Favorite book?
Ava: The Silent Patient.
PC: Favorite play or musical?
Ava: West Side Story.
PC: A band or artist that fans would be surprised to learn is on your playlist?
Ava: Van Halen.
PC: Who would play you in the story of your life?
Ava: Anne Hathaway.
