Exclusive Interview: Pop Culturalist Chats with Angelic

Fourteen-year-old songstress Angelic is the future of music. She got her start uploading covers online, which quickly amassed millions and millions of views. That success solidified for Angelic that she was on the right path, and she hasn’t looked back since.

She recently released a new single titled “Curfew”, and it’s a bop that will have you up on your feet. Pop Culturalist spoke with Angelic about the song.

PC: How did you discover your passion for music?
Angelic: When I was growing up, my mom always played loud music in the car and that is when I got hooked! Music is my everything. It’s my therapy.

PC: Who or what has had the biggest influence on your career?
Angelic: My mom is always pushing me, and music drives me. Also, my mom drives me everywhere. [laughs]

PC: Tell us about your new single, “Curfew”. What inspired the song?
Angelic: “Curfew” was inspired by life as a teenager growing up and starting to explore, hangout, date, etc. I think whether you have a curfew now or if you ever had one, you’ll be able to relate!

PC: What is your creative process like? How has it evolved throughout the years?
Angelic: It’s constantly changing as I grow, but writing and recording with my team is amazing. Usually, we start with an idea that’s developed from us checking how we are feeling that day. We share things like what we’ve observed, heard, or are feeling, and go from there.

PC: Is it a challenge to balance your career at such a young age? How do you do it?
Angelic: Music is my passion and I love what I do every day, so most of the time it doesn’t feel like work, and when it does, I work even harder. [laughs] I really love what I do.

PC: What does the rest of the year hold for you as we look ahead in 2019?
Angelic: Loads of new original music—both Spanish and English—videos, photo shoots, performances and personal appearances. Wow, so much! 2019 is going to be my biggest year yet.
