Exclusive Interview: Kevin Sorbo Talks ‘A Christmas Heart,’ Upcoming Projects, and His Love for the Industry

Kevin Sorbo’s remarkable career is a testament to his talent and versatility. With over a hundred credits to his name, Kevin has excelled as an actor, producer, writer, and director. He is celebrated for his captivating performances and intricate storytelling in projects such as Andromeda, The Reliant, Hercules, and Miracle in Texas. This year, audiences eagerly await his starring role in the highly anticipated holiday film, A Christmas Heart. Pop Culturalist had the privilege of speaking with Kevin about A Christmas Heart, his other upcoming projects, and his impressive tenure in the industry.

PC: You’ve done it all throughout your career. What was it about A Christmas Heart and the character that you play in the film that resonated with you the most?
Kevin: Redemption. It’s a story of hope and forgiveness. In the evil, angry, mad world we live in, people are looking for hope.

PC: In addition to the incredible work that you’ve done on the screen, you’ve also written, directed, and produced. How have your experiences behind the camera lent themselves to your work as an actor and how you interpret scripts and characters like the one you play in A Christmas Heart?
Kevin: I believe it’s an individual thing when you read a script. If the first twenty pages hold my interest, I keep reading. Timing plays a role in my interest in a project as well. The character has to pull me in. Maybe I relate to that character or know someone like that character.

PC: Bill McAdams Jr. wrote, directed, and stars in the film. How different is that filming experience when the person who created these characters and universe is also at the helm directing and has experience in front of the camera? What was that collaboration like?
Kevin: Billy and I love this business, even though the whole Hollywood world is so corrupt and filled with so much insecurity and pain. It is a drug, unfortunately. [laughs] But we both love the creative process and love being on the set bringing stories to life through the lens of the camera. Billy understands I have been in the business for a long time, like he has. I am comfortable on a movie set. I will have my ideas on each scene and will run those by any director I work with. They might like them or not like them, but Billy will listen and keep an open door, which is good. I was always impressed when I was taking acting classes and there would be a director or two taking that class with me so they can learn more about that side of the camera as well.

PC: Outside of A Christmas Heart, what’s next for you? You’ve done so much in your career, what’s left on that bucket list?
Kevin: I have four movies in post right now. I have two documentaries coming out this year that I produced and narrated and was on camera for them. I have three other movies funded through other indie production houses that I will be a part of as an actor in all of them and as a producer/actor in one of them. I also do a lot of keynote speaking events. I have a book out with Bravebooks.com, so I have been promoting a lot lately. I love to stay busy. Clint Eastwood is my hero. I want to still be working in my 90s!
