Ashley Parker Angel on the Wake-Up Call That Fueled High Level Science

Ashley Parker Angel

Ashley Parker Angel has spent the majority of his life in the spotlight. As a chart-topping artist, stage performer, and storyteller, he’s lived at the intersection of creativity and discipline—doing everything “right” to sustain peak performance. But even at his physical best, his internal health told a different story. That unexpected wake-up call sparked a new chapter—one rooted not in entertainment, but in impact.

Determined to bridge the gap between clinical insight and lived experience, Ashley Parker Angel teamed up with world-renowned cardiologist Dr. David Rizik to launch High Level Science, a wellness brand committed to clean, science-backed supplementation. With a shared mission to challenge the status quo, they’re creating products and communities designed to move the needle in how long—and how well—people live.

Pop Culturalist caught up with Ashley Parker Angel to discuss the evolution of his personal and professional journey, the mindset shift that fueled High Level Science, and why he believes real change doesn’t stick without support.

PC: Your transition into the wellness space feels like a natural evolution of your personal and creative journey. How did your experiences as a storyteller help shape the mission and vision behind High Level Science?
Ashley Parker Angel: Storytelling has always been how I make sense of the world. As a performer, you learn to connect emotion to experience and transform something deeply personal into something universal. It’s why an audience can watch a Broadway show about a green witch falling in love with a scarecrow and somehow see their own life reflected back at them.

That mindset carried directly into High Level Science. I didn’t want to build just another supplement brand—I wanted to tell the truth about modern health through my own experiences over the past twenty-five years and everything I’ve learned about what it really takes to sustain peak performance.

PC: You’ve shared how you were doing all the “right” things—eating well, staying active—and yet your blood work still told a different story. That’s an experience so many people can relate to. With your lived experience as a performer and Dr. David Rizik’s clinical expertise, what did you both feel was missing in the current wellness landscape—something High Level Science is uniquely positioned to deliver?
Ashley Parker Angel: That moment when my blood work came back was a wake-up call. I was training hard, eating clean, living what most people would call a healthy lifestyle—yet my internal markers told a very different story. When I connected with Dr. David Rizik, we realized we were seeing the same issue from two different angles. The wellness space was either too clinical or too trendy. What was missing was a bridge.

Real medical insight paired with lived experience. High Level Science exists to fill that gap with research-driven, transparent formulations designed to help people better support their bodies through the real, everyday stresses of modern life.

PC: Whether through fitness coaching or High Level Science, you’ve always emphasized community. Why do you believe wellness becomes more powerful and sustainable when people have support around them?
Ashley Parker Angel: Wellness doesn’t stick in isolation. I’ve seen it time and time again. People don’t fail because they lack motivation—they struggle because they feel alone. Community brings accountability, perspective, and grace. When you know someone is walking alongside you, you’re far less likely to give up on the hard days.

This applies everywhere, whether it’s in fitness coaching or broader health journeys. The body responds more effectively when the nervous system feels supported, and connection plays a major role in that. Often, when someone begins their wellness journey, they’re the only person in their circle making those changes. Instead of encouragement, they’re met with resistance. I hear it constantly in my coaching program. A spouse, friend, or family member will say, “You don’t need to do all that,” or “You’re spending too much time in the gym.” And over time, that discouragement adds up, and people quit.

Being surrounded by others working toward similar goals is incredibly motivating and sustaining. It turns change into something shared—something you don’t have to carry alone.

PC: You’ve been candid about the pressures and mental toll that can come with this industry—especially for someone who found success so young—challenges so many artists still face today. How have you seen the landscape evolve over the years? And as a parent, how do those experiences shape the way you support and guide your son as he finds his own passions?
Ashley Parker Angel: The entertainment industry has changed a lot, but pressure is still pressure. When success comes early, you don’t always have the tools to process it. Back then, mental health wasn’t really part of the conversation. I love seeing artists today set real boundaries and prioritize their mental well-being.

As a parent, that awareness informs everything. I don’t push my son toward outcomes—I support curiosity, balance, and self-trust. I want him to know that his worth isn’t tied to results, especially in industries where so much is out of your control. What matters most is the process and continuing to show up.

I’ve redefined the word “FAIL” to mean “Faithful Attempt In Learning.” You either win or you learn something. That lesson took me years to fully grasp in an industry built on rejection, and it’s one I’m very intentional about passing on.

PC: You’ve shared on social media how important it is to acknowledge the days that aren’t great—that stumbling is part of the journey—which ties so directly to the supportive communities you’re building. Who has been that constant presence for you in your own life, and how have they inspired this mission?
Ashley Parker Angel: I’ve learned that pretending everything’s fine is exhausting. Real growth requires honesty. The people who’ve mattered most in my life are the ones who’ve allowed me to make mistakes and understood that those moments are an essential part of personal growth. My mentors, coaches, business partners, and close friends are the ones who remind me that progress isn’t linear.

That mindset is baked into everything I build now. We celebrate consistency, self-awareness, and the willingness to show up again after a stumble. In my coaching program, I have a saying: “It doesn’t matter how many times you fall off—it’s how quickly you get back on.”

PC: You’ve talked about how essential grit has been to your journey. Who or what influenced that resilience the most? And could you share two moments where you’ve really had to lean into that grit—one from your time in entertainment and one from your work now in the wellness space?
Ashley Parker Angel: Grit came from necessity. Early on, I learned that momentum doesn’t protect you forever. As they say in the industry, you’re only as good as your last hit. One of the hardest moments in my career was stepping away from something that publicly defined me and choosing to chart a completely new course in wellness. Instead of continuing to chase validation through entertainment wins, I realized I wanted to change people’s lives in a more lasting way through the power of health.

With High Level Science, that grit shows up as a commitment to the long game. Building something credible, science-backed, and ethical isn’t always fast or flashy. There are easier routes. We don’t take them. That discipline is a different kind of resilience, but just as demanding.

PC: Goal setting has been such a cornerstone of your development, especially in this new wellness chapter. As someone who’s already achieved so much, what’s the next goal you’re excited to chase?
Ashley Parker Angel: The next goal isn’t about scale for the sake of scale—it’s about impact. I’m excited to continue expanding access to better health education and to build products and communities that actually move the needle long-term. Proper supplementation, like what we’re creating at High Level Science, can genuinely impact how long people live and how good they feel while they’re here.

We’re obsessive about quality. Every formula is clean, pure, and deeply science-backed—developed in collaboration with Dr. David Rizik, a world-renowned cardiologist working at the highest levels of global medicine. No shortcuts. No unnecessary fillers. No hype. I believe everyone deserves access to that level of integrity in the products they put into their bodies.

My goal is to make that caliber of supplementation approachable and accessible—not exclusive. Success for me now looks like longevity: in my body, in my business, and in the people we serve.
