8 YA Books to Read This Spring

OK, so spring may be almost over, but there’s still time! Our to-read list is always a mile long, but we’re making sure that we tackle these 8 sure-to-be-fantastic books before spring ends.

A Court of Frost and Starlight (out now)
So, technically, this is a novella. It is narrated by Feyre and Rhys and bridges the story into the new continuation of the series. It’s meant to tide us over until the fourth book comes out next year so….we’ll take it. (P.S. We’ve talked about how much we love this series from Sarah J. Maas before, but we’ll say it again: if you haven’t read A Court of Thorns & Roses, what are you waiting for?)

Children of Blood & Bone (out now)
All we need to know is that this is a West African-inspired epic fantasy where the main character, Zélie, must fight to bring magic back (and defeat an evil monarchy).

Furyborn (May 22)
Another fantasy (can you tell I am all about YA fantasies?) that has strong female characters and lots of magic. There’s also a prophecy and epic war to get this planned trilogy started.

Leah on the Offbeat (out now)
We loved Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda so we’re excited to read this sequel following one of Simon’s best friends, Leah, around.

My So-Called Bollywood Life (May 15)
I love a good YA romance. This debut sounds absolutely delightful. Winnie Mehta’s “destined by the stars” relationship may not be so destined when she discovers her boyfriend has been cheating on her. Luckily, there’s a new boy from camp, Dev, who she might be falling for…but should she ignore her predicted destiny?

A Reaper at the Gates (June 12)
This is another fantasy series I LOVE so the third installment has been on my to-read list since the very first book ended. I can’t wait to discover if Laia, Elias, and Helene can defeat the Nightbringer.

Suitors and Sabotage (out now)
I really enjoyed Cindy Antsey’s previous historical fiction book Love, Lies, and Spies. In this, Imogene Chively’s London season ends with an approved suitor, but she ends up falling for his brother instead. Throw in a little mystery, and I have no doubt this one will be a delightful read.

The Way You Make Me Feel (out now)
Clara Shin has been relegated to spending her summer working on her dad’s food truck alongside with an uptight classmate, Rose. On the bright side, a boy has a crush on her and Rose isn’t as terrible as Clara first thought. I love stories about discovering yourself and unexpected friendships so this story seems like it’ll be one I’ll enjoy and share.
