Star Wars: The Last Jedi Teaser is Wonderful!

The first teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Last Jedi was released this week, and what a tease it is! Fans at the Star Wars Celebrations in Orlando saw it first, and it looks like it starts off right where the The Force Awakens ends, with Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) meeting on an island. In what looks like a training montage reminiscent of the Rocky films (but with a lightsaber), we are then taken on a whirlwind tour of the current Star Wars universe, with glimpses of the returning cast.

John Boyega returns as Finn, unconscious in a healing pod of some sort, still recovering from the injures sustained in the first film. Poe played by Oscar Isaac returns as the Resistance pilot, who we see run from a giant fireball in a hanger with BB8, the lovable droid. Not so lovable is Adam Driver, who also reprises his role as Kylo Ren, a character I absolutely despise because of his actions in The Force Awakens.

There are also some bittersweet shots of the Millennium Falcon and Princes Leia (the late Carrie Fisher) too.

It ends with Luke whispering “The Jedi must end,” which made me do a double take, considering he’s actually training Rey, presumably to be a Jedi.

The teaser doesn’t spoil any plot details, and raises more questions than it answers, but I personally can’t wait to find out what it all means when Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters sometime in December!
