Song Premiere: Me an Di’s “All At Once”

Songwriters Diana Cybulska and Jean-Marc Tardieu are the masterminds behind hit songs “Talking Dirty” and “Unlabeled”. They have generated millions of plays around the world. The Berklee graduates have spent years writing for others but recently decided to craft their own sound and direct their own narrative by forming Me an Di. The duo is a fiery mix of electro-dance and unforgettable pop hooks immersed in incredible storytelling that reflects on love, friendship, growing, and the future.

Today they drop “All At Once”, their highly-anticipated debut single, exclusively on Pop Culturalist.com. The song is packed with big hooks and percussive rhythms that build to an anthemic and unforgettable chorus. Their sensual voices blend harmoniously together—perfectly capturing the feeling of being on the cusp of falling for someone new.

Pop Culturalist spoke with Me an Di ahead of the song’s premiere (which you can listen to below)!

PC: What inspired “All At Once”?
Jean-Marc: To be honest: too much champagne and too many feels! [laughs] We cracked a bottle, and the conversation started flowing. We talked about the point where you get a wave of clarity and you find yourself staring down the precipice of all the inevitable feelings that you know are coming when you feel too much for someone. You’re wrapped up in the exhilaration of it all that you decide to do it anyway regardless of how it could end.

PC: Tell us about the creative process of bringing “All At Once” to life.
Diana: “All At Once” is the song that launched Me an Di in many ways, not just because it’s the first song that we’re releasing. It started out with just piano, vocals, some bubbly, and our friend, songwriter Tanja Utunen. The three of us wrote it just from a feeling—not because we had any sort of deadline or artist in mind—which was new for all of us. It wasn’t intended for us to release, and the idea of Me an Di hadn’t even been born yet.

I then met producer Jay Phoenix who really helped bring this song to life. I was at The Producer’s Social in DTLA and was immediately intrigued by his production. He’s a classically trained pianist and you can definitely tell by listening to his production. He weaves it seamlessly into Pop/EDM. He took the elements of a genre we really loved and transformed something that could easily have been a simple ballad into something vibey that has the EDM/future bass flavor that we love. The song really helped guide us to [build] a dope team around us, and we’re pumped to keep releasing more.
