Last year, Pop Culturalist shared an exclusive interview with Sean Lew for his role in the critically acclaimed series The Cleaning Lady.
Since then, Sean has been sweeping away the competition after winning the U.S. national final in the global competition Red Bull Dance Your Style. Sean is now headed to the world final in Germany where he has the chance to be the world champion.
Since its announcement in February, Red Bull Dance Your Style held eight qualifiers across the country where the best dancers from around the world competed each with their own talent, passion, dance style and most importantly story.
Sean has now been dancing for over seventeen years, competing in two seasons of NBC’s World of Dance, its clear his work in dance gave him the experience he needed to grab the crown.
Red Bull Dance Your Style holds a knock-out tournament where dancers compete head-to-head without knowing what the next song will be, a true test of creativity, talent and improvisation. After an exhilirating final battle against Oakland’s Daisy VMZ, Sean Lew emerged as the winner.
On his win he says: “I am flooded with the amount of inspiration from my competitors tonight. Being the champion is the best feeling in the world because I get to honor my family and my friends who have sacrificed a lot for me. I get to make my family, my friends proud, and that means the world to me. “
“Dance is my family, it’s been by my side and has saved my life so many times. I have spent years listening to the music and that is what Red Bull Dance Your Style is all about – listening to the music and listening to what it is telling you.”
The third edition of the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final will take place on November 4th in Frankfurt, Germany. For updates, visit redbulldanceyourstyle.com.
