SDCC 2019: Inside the Van Helsing Press Room

Syfy’s most popular post-apocalyptic, vampire-laden, fantasy/horror show Van Helsing is coming back for a fourth season! The cast and crew were on-hand at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con to shed some much-needed light on what we can expect and brought a little teaser to whet our appetite. Check it out:

Jonathan Walker on Being the New Showrunner This Season
“I’ve been writing on the show since season one. I’m very well attuned with what Van Helsing is, but I was given this opportunity to spin it off in a new direction. I added a bunch of new cast members and started digging into new areas of storytelling that we haven’t done before.”

Tricia Helfer Discusses Her Take on Dracula
“I did not watch any [old depictions of Dracula] on purpose. I didn’t want it to inform my decisions too much. I wanted to make it my own. It was going to be a female Dracula anyway, so it was already going to be different.”

Jennifer Cheon Garcia (Ivory) on the Arrival of Dracula
“With Dracula and the other new characters coming, shit’s about to get real.”

Aleks Paunovic on Bringing “The Big Show” a.k.a. Paul Wight to Van Helsing
“I was reading the script [for the upcoming season] and this character came up…I thought Big Show would be great, so I decided to message him. I said, ‘Hey, would you want to be a part of the Van Helsing gang?’ We went back and forth and all of a sudden he’s sitting there and we’re having dinner.”

Season 4 of Van Helsing is expected to be released in Fall 2019.
