Red Bull Dance Your Style Returns with Ambitious 2023 Line-Up

Dance competitions tend to stick to a few styles, but what if there was a competition for all styles?

Thankfully, there is, and Red Bull Dance Your Style is back for its annual return this time bigger than ever.

Kicking off on March 25th in Memphis, the all-styles dance competition will summon the region’s best dancers across hip-hop, house, waacking, turfing, krumping, popping, and everything in between. Via bracket-style tournament, dancers will battle one-on-one to randomly selected music, from throwback hits to popular tracks, to win the audience vote and advance to the next round. With no panel of judges, planned choreography, or pre-chosen music, Red Bull Dance Your Style is all about embracing the moment.

This year Red Bull Dance Your Style will host eight qualifiers across America, more than ever in the competition’s history.

Following the qualifiers, Chicago will host the Red Bull Dance Your Style National Finals on May 20th. From Chicago footwork to Detroit jit, the Midwest region boasts a historic dance scene and has made indelible contributions to street dance. The Red Bull Dance Your Style Chicago National Finals will pay homage to these local, resilient dance communities who continue to dance for joy, rather than fame.

In less than four months, 16 regional champions and runner ups will battle it out to win the hearts of the crowd for the U.S. national championship title, and the opportunity to compete at the World Finals in Frankfurt, Germany on November 4th. Follow along with #RedBullDanceYourStyle.

“Red Bull Dance Your Style is a space where you can witness amazing artistry from all over the globe. The dance community is filled with so many different voices and backgrounds, so it’s important to amplify all styles of dance that people might not be aware of,” says The Crown, winner of the 2022 U.S. Red Bull Dance Your Style National Final.

Last year, we interviewed dance trailblazer Dassy Lee who was the runner-up at the U.S. Dance Your Style National Final in Washington D.C. in 2021.

She exclusively revealed to us why its so important for women to get involved in street dance: “Red Bull Dance Your Style is very unique. It plays very mainstream music to bring everybody together. Another unique point is that there are no judges and the crowd gets to judge. Whoever entertains the crowd is going to win. Street dance is very male-dominated. Usually, there are a lot of men judging the event, and because of that I feel like a lot of men win even though there are a lot of amazing beautiful female dancers. This competition gives an opportunity for anyone to win.”
