Cameron Moulène is charismatic, well-spoken, and one hell of an actor. And, no, we’re not just saying that. He’s currently starring (and stealing scenes) on the hit tv show, Foursome—airing exclusively on YouTube Red.
The laugh-out-loud comedy always has us in stitches. And, we’re psyched it’s back for a second go around. Its new season premieres today. And, you’ve probably guessed, Cameron is one of the many reasons we can’t get enough of it. His performance is endearing, relatable, and has all the qualities of a leading man. His character, Josh, is a lovable photo student and the crush to our socially awkward protagonist, Andie. Pop Culturalist was lucky enough to chat with Cameron about the role, his career, and what gets his creative juices going. This talented actor is a breath of fresh air and we can’t wait to see where his career goes from here.
PC: Where does the new season pick up and what can fans expect?
Cameron: The new season picks up three weeks after the ending of season 1 (I think, I’m almost positive, God I hope I’m right about that). Fans should set their expectations extremely low so that this amazing season packed with drama, belly laughs, and high sexual tension is an even bigger event than it would’ve already been.
PC: How has Josh evolved from season one?
Cameron: Josh has gone from Charmander to Charmeleon. Big things are happening for him. He’s got a Flamethrower level 50… oh, oh I understand what you’re asking now. He’s still essentially dealing with the same emotional turmoil he was dealing with in season 1. He’s committed fully to his allegiance to Alec, though, so you see more of the kindhearted bro, and a little less of the emotional unsure photo student.
PC: What was your favorite scene to film this season?
Cameron: I had a lot of fun filming the escape room scene. That was a huge 6-page scene that took us two days to film, so we spent a lot of time in that room together. It was also one of my only scenes with Rickey this season and he always makes me laugh on set. He was moping most of the time because he hates popcorn and had to eat about two buckets worth throughout the two days.
PC: What traits do you share with Josh?
Cameron: Besides my voice, mannerisms, and physical features, nothing at all. I would never handle Josh’s dilemma the way he has. It goes beyond being a good guy, it’s like Josh is this crazy archetype of what women ACTUALLY want in the cliché high school sense. Which once you leave high school you realize is series of contradictory traits that could never make a functional happy person. Wait… I’m a series of contradictions too – we all are… Oh, my god. I’m exactly like Josh.
PC: At the end of season one, Josh kisses Andie. What can you tease about Janie this season? And, how did you and Jenn build your chemistry?
Cameron: These sorts of things are better left unsaid and discovered organically.
PC: Describe your cast mates in one word.
Cameron:
PC: Who would be in your foursome?
Cameron: Nick Selden, Pierre Moulène, and Danny Lee.
PC: You recently started your own YouTube channel. Can you tell us how it came to fruition? And, if you’ll be collaborating with any of your cast mates?
Cameron: Who knows where that thing is gonna go. I have a lot of creative energy constantly and if I don’t channel it into something I go a little insane, so for right now it’s the secondary platform for when I’ve got nothing else going on. That said, I think YouTube is an amazing medium to make cool videos and share them yourself, so I’m going to keep expanding on it. I’d love to collaborate with anyone anytime… Reach out to some people Pop Culturalist. You guys are big time. I’m expecting a call from The Rock’s team on your behalf soon.
PC: Guilty pleasure TV show?
Cameron: The Simpsons
PC: Guilty pleasure movie?
Cameron: Animal House
PC: Favorite play or musical?
Cameron: Art by Yasmin Reza
PC: Favorite book?
Cameron: Easy Riders, Raging Bulls
PC: Favorite social media platform?
Cameron: I honestly hate social media, but I’m a product of my environment. Twitter is cool because it’s an instantaneous news feed. I think that’s an important tool.
PC: Hidden talent?
Cameron: Accents and impressions. It’s a hidden talent because I’m not as good as Jim Carrey yet.
PC: If you could have dinner with five people, alive or dead, real or fictional, who would they be and why?
