Alex Russell is an actor you should keep your eye on. He first captured our hearts as the lovable hero in Chronicle. And, we’ve been fans ever since. With each new project, he’s proven that he’s unfazed by challenging roles and will not be typecast. He can next be seen in the thriller, Blood in the Water, where he plays an aspiring musician caught in a deadly love triangle. The film opens in select theaters this Friday. And, it’s another winner. But, we can’t say we’re surprised.
Raised in Queensland, this Aussie actor perfected his craft at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA). And, in 2010, he made his cinematic debut in the indie cult classic: Wasted on the Young. But, he’s best known for his role in the sci-fi thriller, Chronicle—starring alongside Dane DeHaan and Michael B. Jordan. Since then, he’s played a college student who exploits churches in order to pay his tuition (Believe Me), an ex-con trying to make a new life for himself (Cut Snake), and the infamous Billy Nolan in the remake of Carrie. See what we were saying? Alex never portrays the same character twice. With each role, he inhabits and transforms into the part. And, we’ve never been disappointed. If Alex has signed onto the project, you know it’ll be a hit.
And, things aren’t slowing down anytime soon. Alex is currently filming Granite Mountain. The star-studded film includes Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Taylor Kitsch, Ben Hardy, and Jeff Bridges. Is it 2017 yet? To keep up with Alex, make sure to follow him on Twitter and Instagram.
