Future Man is one of this fall’s newest TV shows that we’re excited for. It comes from friends Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg so you know it’s going to be a hilarious blend of comedy, action, and fun. It stars Josh Hutcherson as a gamer who must save the world by time travel (did we mention the world is falling apart because of a deadly herpes outbreak?). Check out the trailer:

On their antagonistic relationsip
Haley Joel Osment: The pilot script has changed a lot as we got deeper into the season to make things fit together better. An original draft had us being high school classmates where I had bullied him really badly. But I don’t think that works anymore in the line of the story so at least to start I’m just a mean-spirited person who likes to pick on people below his status and then as time travel shows so wonderfully a couple weird random twists of fate turn us against each other for no particular reason at all except wrong place at the wrong time.
On being a gamer
Josh Hutcherson: I didn’t get that [gamer] gene. I like bowling. Bowling, darts, beer pong. Any of those kind of games. They’re underrated.

On time traveling in the show
Derek Wilson: It’s a time travel show so time travel is inherently part of the show. Whatever time period I was in, I would be playing that music in my trailer….that’s a huge fun part of the show: showing up and seeing what decade we’re in based on our wardrobe.
Eliza Coupe: It was crazy just because the hours were insane, and we just worked really hard, but I would go to work and be surprised, literally, not knowing what we were going to shoot that day….I know my lines and what’s happening, but it’d still be, “Wait, where are we?” So it was kind of fun that way.
Derek: Which was great because that’s sort of where the characters are.
Eliza: That’s a good point. There was a lot of us as actors trying to dive into the world that was just so easily relatable to our characters.
On what time period the show should travel to
Derek: I would like to go further back outside of 20th century.
Eliza: I’d like to go to the Wild West.
On their similarities with their character
Eliza: Tiger’s anger hits a nice cord with me…not one that I don’t think my family enjoyed. I didn’t mean to [bring my work home], but she was so angry. I had to draw on that every day.
Derek: I think Wolf’s…there’s something sort of childlike and playful. Curiosity. I’m a curious person.
