NYCC 2017: What We’re Excited For

We’ve been eagerly anticipating the beginning of October for one reason: New York Comic Con! We’re ready to see all the rad costumes. We’ve got our tennis shoes ready to walk the expansive show floor to see all the cool booths and see Artists’ Alley. And, of course, we’ve caught up on sleep so we can catch every minute of NYCC over the course of October 5 through October 8.

With so much going on (panels, autographing, artists making art, and special screenings), we’ve culled through all of it. There is SO much that we’re looking forward to, but we’re incredibly excited for these things:

Returning Shows
Beyond
Beyond
has turned out to be an incredible sci-fi series that we’d totally recommend binge watching if you haven’t seen the show before. We can’t wait to hear about what is in store for the next season of the show.
Panel: October 7, 12-1:30p

Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency
This trippy, inventive series had us trying to figure out the crazy time-warp of season 1. With unique characters that aren’t really like any other characters you can find on TV, season 2 is going to new heights.
Panel: October 6, 12:45-1:45p

New Shows
Future Man
Time traveling to save humanity. Josh Hutcherson as a janitor/gamer/hero. Seth Rogen is one of the executive producers. Those three tidbits are enough to have us super stoked about this new TV show. They’ll be screening the first episode at the panel, too.
Panel: October 6, 1:30-2:30p

Runaways
The one might be the one everyone is most excited for. This newest Marvel show is about a group of teens who find out their parents are evil. Fingers crossed that the panel includes a screening, too!
Panel: October 6, 7:45-9:15p

Literary Stuff
Pierce Brown will be at NYCC discussing the awesome Red Rising trilogy. The best part of his panel is definitely going to be when he talks about his upcoming new book Iron Gold (we can’t wait for that one!). He’ll also be signing books in the autographing area on both Saturday and Sunday.
Panel: October 7, 4:00-5:00p

Activations
Fandom Fest
There’s a lot going on for this activation. Stop by the booth #327 for Fantasy Food Truck eats inspired by Rick and Morty, The Walking Dead, Star Wars, and Stranger Things. There will also be an 80s Gamer Den inspired by Future Man, and a Fandom factory where you can create some screen-printed swag!

The Tick
Dangerboat (the headquarter’s of Overkill in the show) is going to be built out on the show floor. Fans will be able to go into it and explore every surprise inside. There will also be customized swag here, too.

Lore
This new series on Amazon is inspired by the popular podcast, Lore. The Museum of Lore activation is sure-to-be cool. With several bone-chilling Lore myths come to life, fans will be able to go through the activation and have some great photo ops.

Taraneh

Taraneh has been happily living in NYC for over a decade, but originally hails from the Midwest. Enamored with books at a young age, she grew up making stories, playing make believe, and loving the musical and performing arts. She is great at binge-watching TV shows. Some current favorites: Schitt's Creek, A Court of Mist & Fury, Prince Harry, and The Magicians.
