New Music Friday: Aimée’s “Break Me Acoustic”

Rising singer-songwriter Aimée is a confident storyteller, who is in full control of her creative vision. She made her breakthrough in the industry with her debut single, “Don’t Bother”. The track became an anthem for any listener looking to take back their power following a breakup.

Today, Aimée follows that success with a stripped down acoustic version of her song, “Break Me”. When asked about the track, Aimée shares: “‘Break Me’ is a song I wrote about my experience dealing with anxiety. Anxiety is something I have been dealing with since I was seven-years-old. For a very long time, it controlled my life. For me, I took back the control when I stopped trying to fight it, and stopped trying to change who I am. Although I still deal with this every single day, and I probably will for the rest of my life, I regained my strength by accepting this is who I am and knowing I am strong enough to get through it. I know nothing is going to break me.

From the moment we started writing ‘Break Me’, I could hear a choir on it in my head. Ultimately with the single release version, we chose to move in a contemporary pop style with the production. But when the opportunity came up to record this acoustic version, with the Gardiner St. Choir, I felt like the stars had aligned. The power that exudes from that collection of voices coming together gave me chills! I feel very lucky to have them perform on this track.”
