Fans Show Support for Our Favorite ‘Ship: Malec

Who’s ready for some #Malec? We’ve seen glimpses of their developing relationship all season long. And, tonight it comes to the forefront.

Fans of Cassandra Clare’s bestselling YA series will recognize Malec as the romantic pairing of Magnus Bane (Harry Shum Jr.) and Alec Lightwood (Matthew Daddario). The beloved ‘ship is a favorite amongst readers. And, for good reason. They represent change, progression, and acceptance—both fictionally and for the LGBT community.

The creators have done a phenomenal job translating these characters from page to screen, which has been supported by the performances of two outstanding actors. It’s hard to look away when either are in a scene. Harry brings to life the flamboyant warlock. And, Matthew Daddario is flawless as Alec Lightwood. You’re able to sense all of his internal conflicts and you root for him to find happiness.

Fans have been showing their support with the hashtag #Malec. It’s endless tweets about the impact of the ‘ship and some of the most amazing fan art you’ll see. Here are some of my favorites:

And, with any relationship in The Mortal Instrument series, we know the couple will have their share of ups and downs (ahem, Lydia). But, we’re hopeful they’ll find their way to each other.

Tune in tonight at 9pm EST to see what unfolds.
