The Expanse returns to Syfy with an explosive two-part special!
The Expanse merges the political intrigue of Game of Thrones with the space battles of Battlestar Galactica and the camaraderie of the modern day Star Trek movies, to create one of the best sci-fi shows on TV right now. And its back for another season! You can watch the trailer here.
If you want a refresher on Season 1, check out this cat video! It’s AMAZING.
After leaving us hanging with the ending of season 1, we find Joe Miller and Jim Holden, played by Thomas Jane and Steven Strait respectively, both irradiated and cancer stricken from the mess on Eros. Luckily for them, their ship, the Rocinante, is equipped with a Medbay. It’s also staffed by the most dysfunctional crew this side of the Belt. Cas Anvar is Alex Kamal, our lovable pilot; Dominique Tipper is Naomi Nagata, the ship’s engineer and second in command; and Wes Chatham returns as the frighteningly unpredictable sociopath Amos Burton.
Using the recently acquired questionable data and cargo from Eros, the crew decides to track down the party responsible for the heinous experiments that occurred there. But before they do, they need help from disgraced UN colonel and OPA leader Fred Johnson (Chad Coleman).
The two hour season premiere also features some new faces to the series as well. Frankie Adams plays Bobbie Draper, a Martian Marine who, for the record, looks badass in Martian Power armor and acts like a hardass out of it!
Draper is a fan favorite, but I’m most excited for is Cotyar, a spy hired by UN Undersecretary Chrisjen Avasarala (Shohreh Aghdashloo). Cotyar is played by Nick Tarabay, whom I immediately recognized as Ashur from the Spartacus series on Starz. Nick was manipulative and cunning in his portrayal of Ashur, so I’m quite excited to see more of him in season 2!
The conclusion of this two-part season premiere is a nail biting sight to behold, so instead of me spoiling it here, I’d urge you to watch it yourself.
I promise, you won’t be disappointed!
Don’t have Syfy? You can watch Season 2 on Amazon, Google Play or iTunes!
