Exclusive Interview: Pop Culturalist Chats with Stephen Kramer Glickman

Stephen Kramer Glickman is a consummate performer, and we’re loving each and every single one of his projects big time! Best known as Gustavo in Nickelodeon’s Big Time Rush, Stephen discovered his love for his craft at a young age. “In second grade, I kept volunteering to perform in front of my class,” he told us with a laugh. “My teacher suggested to my mom that she put me in community theater.” And that’s exactly what his mom did.

From that moment on, Stephen would perform four (yes, four) musicals a year until he graduated high school and majored in acting and theater at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City. That hard work paid off when he landed his first big break as Shrek in the Broadway workshop of Shrek The Musical.

But the role that changed the course of his career was Nickelodeon’s Big Time Rush. “I had young people from all around the world reaching out to me on social media telling me how happy they were that I was a part of their childhood,” he said. “I learned so much on that set.”

Although Big Time Rush made Stephen a household name on screen, he’s been crushing it in the comedy world for over fifteen years. While we’re all doing our part and staying indoors, Stephen’s still bringing the laughs with his new comedy album, Voices in My Head. When we asked about the inspiration behind the album, Stephen stated, “It’s a collection of stories about the best and worst people I’ve encountered. The inspiration comes from a variety of places like politics, my girlfriend, the jobs that I’ve been fired from, and my struggle with weight loss.”

Listen to the album below, and keep up with Stephen by following him on Twitter and Instagram. Don’t forget to check out his podcast.
