Romain Bonnet is one of the stars of Selling Sunset, the hit Netflix reality docuseries that has swept the nation. It follows the elite real estate brokers at the Oppenheim Group who sell the luxe life to buyers in LA. With the show returning for its third season, we caught up with Romain to learn more about what we can expect!
PC: At a young age, you moved from France to the States. How scary was that decision?
Romain: Well, I always loved traveling and left home when I was eighteen to go overseas in Oslo, Norway, to work for the first time. I wasn’t scared at all until I jumped on the plane and realized I didn’t know how to cook or even how to do my laundry. But I learned the hard way and figured it out.
Moving to another country is always scary. You don’t know anyone and have to restart everything. It is really hard and challenging to make it—even more for me when I had to do it in Sydney, Australia. I ended up having an amazing life and was just in love with the country, people, and life I had.
Moving here was always a goal, but I had to restart again and couldn’t stop thinking of what I had over there. But I ended up making it through after some really hard times. I’m so thankful for the people that helped me since day one and would never leave again because I found everything I always wanted and dreamed of, that goes without saying. I found the love of my life.
PC: Once you moved to LA, you quickly signed with a modeling agency. Tell us a bit about how you were discovered and your journey in the industry.
Romain: I got discovered when I was in Australia by an agent from Wilhelmina. I had a meeting with them in New York. Then after I moved to LA, contacted them to let them know I moved and I was ready to work with them. Later, I got approved and signed as a fitness model with the agency in NY and LA.
PC: Season 3 of Selling Sunset is out now. What can fans expect?
Romain: A lot is going to happen between Christine’s wedding and our poor Chrishell going through so much. You guys are getting to know more and more about each one of us.
PC: Is it ever a challenge having your life documented? How long did it take for you to adjust to having the cameras around you?
Romain: Not challenging but different. I got used to the camera as a model but simply photo. Obviously, it took a little time but got way more comfortable after seeing the results of Season 1.
PC: Has anything surprised you about being a part of Selling Sunset?
Romain: Never thought I would ever be on a show, that’s for sure. But it happened and I am really blessed for the opportunity that’s been given to me.
PC: What has been the biggest takeaway being a part of Selling Sunset?
Romain: Not really sure I can say anything other than being recognized a lot each time we are out in LA, which so far has been really nice.
PC: Guilty pleasure TV show?
Romain: Lucifer, All American, Money Heist.
PC: Guilty pleasure movie?
Romain: Never Back Down and any army movies.
