Exclusive Interview: Pop Culturalist Chats with Maxwell B. Scott

Rapper Maxwell B. Scott has been through a lot in his life, but he hasn’t allowed those moments to define him or weigh him down. He’s continued to work hard and block out any negativity and doubt, continuing on his path. This year, he’s gearing up to release his music to the world as well as an exciting new merch line that he’s always dreamed of creating. Pop Culturalist caught up with Maxwell to learn all about it!

PC: How did you discover your passion for music?
Maxwell: I’ve been around music my whole life. It’s more than just a passion; it’s a lifestyle.

PC: Who or what has had the biggest influence on your career?
Maxwell: My top five influences would have to be NF, Boogie, Machine Gun Kelly, Eminem, and Juice Wrld.

PC: What message do you hope to convey through your music?
Maxwell: We can do anything we want in our lives; we just have to believe and execute our goals. The human brain has a five-second window before it fills with negativity, doubt, and worry. You have to push through even when it’s hard and you don’t feel like going on. Just remember, it’s all mental–you are stronger than you think!

PC: You’ve experienced a lot throughout your life. During those challenging times, what did you learn about yourself?
Maxwell: Everyone’s story is different. Some are similar, but we have to pick each other up and forgive people, even if they did you wrong. Life’s too short to have strife, depression, and anxiety. Here’s a gist of my story: I woke up and my best friend, brother, and father were dead. Then, I almost watched my mom die a couple of times. My depression got so bad—I felt like I had nothing. I’ve been on my own since I was a kid, learning about life without any parents or help. I rebuilt myself from the ground up.

PC: You’re dropping a merch line soon! What can fans expect from that?
Maxwell: I’m super excited and happy. It’s a dream come true to have my own clothing line. I’ve put a lot of work into it, and my ideas are coming to life, which is awesome! Never in a million years did I think I would have my own merch line.

PC: As you look ahead in your career, what are some goals you hope to accomplish?
Maxwell: Without doubt, I’m going to make sure my music is the most relatable thing you hear. Before I turn twenty-five, I want to have five or six albums that shock the world.
