Exclusive Interview: Pop Culturalist Chats with La’Ron Hines

Meet La’Ron Hines. He’s Hollywood’s newest triple threat, acting, dancing, and singing his way into everybody’s heart. Pop Culturalist caught up with La’Ron to chat about his career and breaking into the industry.

PC: You act, dance, and sing. How did you discover your passion for each? Is there one that you naturally gravitate towards?
La’Ron: I first discovered my passion for acting at a very young age. While watching TV at a very young age, I would watch shows with actors and actresses who were close to my age. This made me want to act even more because I saw them doing it. I attended Young Actors Camp in L.A. for several years. Each year, they would host a talent show, and one year, the owner asked me to be in the talent show and sing a song. I was nervous but I decided to do it anyway. After my performance, I got a standing ovation, and that definitely built my confidence. Once I went back home, I started to practice more on singing. And from that point on, singing was equally as important to me as acting. I developed a love for dance around the same time that I started singing. With my genre of music, it requires dance while performing. So I would also practice dancing with my singing. I would say I gravitate more towards singing. I absolutely love singing. It relaxes me and allows me to focus on what I am preparing to do.

PC: Who or what has had the biggest influence on your career?
La’Ron: My parents have a big influence on my career along with my self-motivation and drive. My parents push me really hard to be the best that I can be while pursuing this business. They invest a lot of time and money into helping me build my career and to better prepare me to improve my craft.

PC: What’s been the biggest lesson you’ve learned being a part of this industry?
La’Ron: I have learned that this industry is tough. It requires a lot of time and energy. You have to be very dedicated and committed to this industry if you want to succeed. Hard work is a must.

PC: You’re best known for your role in Cedar Sequoia International. What did you learn from that experience that you’ve been able to apply to your career moving forward?
La’Ron: I learned the dos and don’ts of being on set. I also learned how to prepare for filming. It required a lot of studying and commitment to getting the job done. It taught me to always be prepared because time is of essence when on set.

PC: On the music front, you’ve released a couple of singles so far. If you had to choose one that best encompasses you as an artist, what would it be and why?
La’Ron: This is a really tough question because as an artist, you have to record several songs until you reach your sound and preference in music. If I had to choose one of my songs, it would be my song “Different.” It has not been released yet, but it’s coming. I would say it describes me and how I perceive things in general. I strongly feel in order to be successful in this industry, you have to show something “Different.”

PC: What does the rest of the year hold for you as we look ahead to the end of 2019 into 2020?
La’Ron: Of course, new music is coming. I am constantly in the studio working on music. Also, I have auditioned for several roles and it is my hope you will see me filming these roles in 2020.
