Exclusive Interview: Pop Culturalist Chats with Fear the Walking Dead’s Zoe Colletti

Zoe Colletti is leading the next generation of up-and-comers ready to leave their mark on the industry. This year she joined the Fear the Walking Dead family and has quickly become a fan favorite. Pop Culturalist had the pleasure of speaking with this rising star about this huge milestone, why this project means so much to her, and what’s ahead for her character.

PC: How did you discover your passion for acting?
Zoe: I first started acting when I was just four years old! I was such an insanely shy kid. I honestly don’t know how this is the job that I stumbled into, but I couldn’t be happier. My brother Ian has always been my biggest inspiration and mentor throughout all the auditioning and work I’ve done. I tell him all the time that I wouldn’t be able to do any of this without him by my side!

PC: You have a deep connection with the Walking Dead universe and have wanted to be a part of the series since you were twelve. What is it like now starring on Fear the Walking Dead and getting to live out this full-circle moment?
Zoe: I honestly can’t even explain how cool it is to be a part of this incredible show and cast. I feel like twelve-year-old Zoe would be saying, “Can someone pinch me?”

PC: Having been such a fan of the series, did that add any extra pressure/weight heading in the project?
Zoe: To be honest, no! If anything, it added more excitement because I’m so familiar with the world that I was heading into.

PC: Dakota is a new character joining the series. What should fans know about her, and what can you tease about her arc this season?
Zoe: I, of course as everyone knows, can’t say much about my character, but I can tell you that her relationship with her sister is one to keep an eye out for. They’ve developed a really awesome dynamic between the two of them that I think the fans will be really happy with.

PC: The first episode that you filmed for the series was intense to say the least and a big moment for Dakota. How did you prepare for that moment?
Zoe: I actually prepared for the whole season by watching the past ones for tonal inspiration and trusting the director and amazing cast I had by my side and the pleasure to work with!

PC: Which of Dakota’s relationships was your favorite to explore this season and why?
Zoe: Dakota’s relationship with Virginia is definitely the most intriguing for obvious reasons! The older sister dynamic is always interesting, but adding the zombie apocalypse on top brings things to another level!
