Exclusive Interview: Pop Culturalist Chats with Casey Baer

Los Angeles-based sultry pop artist Casey Baer has prepared her whole life for this moment. She’s spent years channeling her relationships and experiences into her songwriting, and now she’s ready to take center stage with her debut single, “Greatest Mistake”. Pop Culturalist spoke with Casey about the momentous occasion.

PC: How did you discover your passion for music?
Casey: I’ve been obsessed with music for as long as I can remember. It’s always been a part of my life and what I do.

PC: Who or what has had the biggest influence on your career?
Casey: Justin Bieber

PC: What’s been the biggest lesson you’ve learned being a part of this industry?
Casey: Stay focused on your own career and don’t get distracted by what other people are doing.

PC: What is your creative process like? Has it changed throughout the years?
Casey: My creative process is evolving all the time. I’m always learning new techniques, whether they’re for writing, singing, or playing instruments. One thing that never changes is that I always keep a notebook with all my song ideas.

PC: How did you decide that “Greatest Mistake” would be your debut single?
Casey: It’s just that gut feeling. At first, I was so torn thinking, “How could I choose? I love all of my songs,” but “Greatest Mistake” just felt right.

PC: What’s your greatest mistake? What did you learn from that experience?
Casey: I caught feelings for a guy everyone told me not to go for, and I knew I shouldn’t, but I did! I was truly heartbroken! You have to listen to your head and not your heart in those situations. But, this song came out of it, so I can’t complain in the end.

PC: What does the rest of the year hold for you as we look ahead in 2019?
Casey: A ton of time in the recording studio writing and producing new music and performing everywhere I can.
