Exclusive Interview: Falling Giant on Crafting Elegance, Darkness, and Sensuality in Their Music and Visual Storytelling

Falling Giant is reshaping the alternative rock metal scene with their signature blend of hard-rock, emo, and gothic influences. Emerging from Rome’s vibrant underground, the five-piece band—frontman Gaetano Marsico, lead guitarist Luca Sebastianelli, bassist Laura Candela, guitarist Alessandro Caponera, and drummer Lorenzo Sorà—infuses their music with elegance, darkness, and sensuality. Each member brings a unique perspective to the group, unified by a shared vision rooted in their Italian heritage and a desire to inspire and connect with their audience.

In this exclusive interview, the band opens up about their self-produced approach, the importance of creative freedom, and how their individual experiences come together to create music that’s as powerful as it is intimate. From their breakout hit “Hades” to sharing stages with rock legends like Three Days Grace, Falling Giant continues to captivate with their mythological ethos of transformation and rebirth.

PC: The music and vision behind Falling Giant are rooted in elegance, darkness, and sensuality. How did you weave all those core principles into your sound and visual storytelling? How did you know these were the pillars of your artistry?
Gaetano: Elegance, darkness, and sensuality are integral to who we are as a band. With our Italian heritage, we’ve always been drawn to beauty. We aim to create music that’s emotionally resonant.

Luca: With every song we make, we want to show the world who we are and where we come from.
Laura: Our art is part of who we are.
Gaetano: These principles allow us to craft a performance and atmosphere that’s both powerful and intimate. We always strive to connect with audiences on a deeper level.

Luca: We embrace that philosophy in our music, visual concepts, videos, and performances.

PC: I love that you’re making music that has an impact. It’s also all self-produced. How valuable is it to have that creative freedom when it comes to pushing the boundaries of your craft and exploring new ideas that are so innovative for the industry?
Luca: We believe in this team. We’re learning every day from all aspects of our craft—from our mistakes to our successes. We want to explore every road possible. That’s really important to us.

Laura: Everyone on this team has their roles. For example, I used to arrange. Each of us brings our heritage and history into the group. Without that, we have no identity. We unify our ideas and channel them into Falling Giant.

Alessandro: It’s so beneficial for any artist to create without restraints. It preserves the integrity of the art we want to make.

PC: This is a five-piece band. How do you all bring your individual experiences into the music while also creating a universal and shared message? How do you find common ground among all five of you?
Gaetano: Each of us brings unique experiences and perspectives to the table, but we all share a common vision to inspire and connect with people. This purpose unites us and allows us to merge our personal journeys into a collective message. There’s a mutual respect and understanding of everyone’s strengths.
