Trailer Reaction: Equals

Imagine a future where emotions have been eradicated as a means to get rid of crime and violence. Where the smallest physical contact is forbidden. But, what happens when two individuals will put their lives in jeopardy for love? That’s the premise of Drake Doremus’ upcoming film, Equals.

Set in an utopian society called “The Collective,” Equals stars Nicholas Hoult and Kristen Stewart. Their characters are involved in a forbidden relationship. When they’re discovered, they must decide whether to resist urges or to flee.

Visually, the trailer is stunning. It’s simple yet captivating. My initial interest in the film was due to the involvement of Drake Doremus and Nicholas Hoult. But, I can’t remember another trailer recently that’s grabbed my attention more. Equals is taking a minimalistic approach. And, it’s perfect for the world that the film takes place in.

The movie made its U.S. premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival last week. But, for those of us who weren’t lucky enough to see it, we can salvage on the trailer until July 15th. If you’re a DirectTV subscriber, you can enjoy the film from the comfort of your own home starting May 26th.

With the impressive cast and director, Equals is sure to be a summer film you can’t miss.
