Denzel Washington is Down for More Revenge in Latest Equalizer 2 Trailer

I’m a sucker for revenge flicks; movies where a lone hero who has renounced his badass past must revisit it for revenge! John Wick and John Wick 2 being the two most recent and popular examples of such movies. But there is a franchise that came out along the same time that’s just as good or maybe even better: The Equalizer.

Denzel Washington needs no introduction—a veteran on the silver screen, he has embodied all the roles he’s played in the last five decades. In The Equalizer, Denzel plays Robert McCall, an ex-CIA agent enjoying retirement in Boston. He’s sworn off violence as a promise to his late wife. Long story short, he gets pulled out of retirement and by the end of the movie, he ends up killing a Russian mob boss in his own multi-acre mansion in Russia.

In this new trailer, the baddies have kidnapped and killed his CIA buddies from the first movie. Of course, he has to track down and exact revenge for his colleagues.

The Equalizer 2 is the first and maybe only numbered sequel in Denzel’s long history as an actor. And with Antoine Fuqua returning to direct, I’m incredibly happy and beyond hyped for the sequel coming later this summer!

The Equalizer 2 hits theaters on July 20th.
