Concert Review: Spencer Sutherland Brings Soul to Gramercy Theatre

Spencer Sutherland is an artist embarking on a new chapter in his career and he’s bringing that growth and vulnerability on the road with him, supporting In Real Life on their Tonight Belongs to You Tour. For the first time, the singer-songwriter is opening up about the highs and lows he’s faced and channeling it into his music: “This year, I’ve been able to be open, honest, and real about my life. The new music really speaks to everything that I’ve been going through, including my struggles.” It’s that candor that won the hearts of many during his concert at Gramercy Theatre in New York City.

Playing at Gramercy Theatre for the second time, the soulful singer got the night off to a roaring start with a set that energized the crowd. He commanded the stage and exuded confidence throughout his thirty-minute set, which featured breathtaking performances of his recently released singles “Tell Me”, “Fine”, and “Talk”. While it’s only been two short years since he last performed on this stage, it was clear that we were witnessing a maturing artist who understands who he is musically and was ready to connect with his fans on a deeper level: “It’s a feeling that I’ve never felt before. My heart and soul is out for the world to see. It’s a bit scary, but in a good way.”

Catch Spencer on tour now. Dates and venues are available here.
