5 Things We Learned from the Freeform Upfronts

It’s been quite an exciting week for Freeform. The network premiered its second binge-from-the-start show, Famous in Love, and kicked off the final ten episodes of their beloved series, Pretty Little Liars. But that’s not all! They also dropped some major bombshells at their upfront presentation held on Wednesday afternoon in New York City.

What were some of the big announcements? We’re glad you asked…

One show we’re dying to see in 2018 is Siren. The series brings us inside Bristol Cove, a sea town known for its legend of once being home to mermaids. Yes, mermaids! But when actual mermaids come ashore, lines will be drawn, and a war between man and mermaid will begin. Siren stars Alex Roe (The 5th Wave) and Eline Powell (Game of Thrones). Check out the enchanting teaser below:

The most buzzed-about new show that’ll be part of the Freeform family has to be Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger. The story follows two teenagers, Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph), who discover they have newly acquired superpowers. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone can engulf others in darkness. They’ll quickly learn that they’re better together than apart. Freeform gave audiences their first look at the new series and we’ve included it below:

Back in January, it was announced that Freeform picked up The Bold Type. The series, inspired by the life of Joanna Coles (chief content officer of Hearst Magazines), reveals a glimpse into the lives of those who built the global women’s magazine, Scarlet. Well, now, we officially know that the show will premiere on July 11th with a two-hour event.

Freeform Announces Summer Fling Event

Freeform made a huge splash when they announced their very first fan festival. Yes, you read that correctly. Freeform’s Summer Fling will be a two-day celebration with meet and greets, performances, panels, and it’ll all take place in summer 2018. Until then, where can we sign up?

It’s official! Production on season two of Beyond kicks off on Monday. The series was Freeform’s first binge-from-the-start show and it amassed over fourteen million viewers across TV and digital platforms.
