As with any Sarah J. Maas book, this is an automatic must-read. Maas has said this book to be volume 2 of book 5 in the Throne of Glass series. The events in Tower of Dawn run parallel to the story of Empire of Storms. Tower of Dawn is the story of Chaol Westfall as he journeys to the south to gain allies for his friends in the coming war and find a healer that will help him recover from his injuries.
This debut by Julie Dao is an East Asian retelling of The Evil Queen. It’s a dark fantasy that explores the story of anti-heroine, Xifeng. It is foretold that Xifeng will be the Empress of Feng Lu when she accepts the dark magic within her. Xifeng covets the power that comes with the throne, but also has a desire to control her own destiny. What will Xifeng decide in the battle between fate and choice?
