10 Favorite Moments from Shadowhunters Season 3A

Welcome back Shadowhunters fans! Season 3B is FINALLY upon us and it’s a bittersweet moment knowing this is The Final Hunt for our Shadowhunters. Before we dive into season 3B, let’s relive some memorable moments from the first half of season three!

Episode: On Infernal Ground | Clary Becomes a Shadowhunter

It’s been a long, arduous journey for Clary since she learned about the Shadow World, her connection to it, and made the decision to train as a Shadowhunter. It’s a moment of pride and honor for Clary as she receives her angelic rune and recites the oath of Shadowhunters. It’s a well-earned and beautiful moment for Clary.

Episode: The Powers That Be | Unintended double date for Clary/Jace and Maia/Simon

In an attempt for normalcy, Jace asks Clary to dinner for their first official date. However, with limited knowledge of mundane things Jace seeks advice from Simon on where to take Clary. Jace and Clary end up at the same restaurant on the same night as Simon and Maia. As both couples try to make the best out of the situation, Jace accidentally reveals that he and Maia hooked up once. Cue the tension and awkwardness. It’s rare to see these four characters in a scene together that doesn’t involve fighting demons, so this bit of mundaneness was a real treat.

Episode: What Lies Beneath | Malec and Mayrse have dinner

Mayrse returns to New York newly divorced and as an exiled Shadowhunter about to have her runes stripped. Magnus graciously offers to host family dinner at his place, which Isabelle and Jace opt out of at the last minute. Alec is bracing for the worst with his mother, but she surprises him with her warmness and good spirits. It was lovely to see Mayrse acknowledge her mistakes in the way she treated Magnus in the past, and wholeheartedly support and accept Malec.

Episode: Thy Soul Instructed | The introduction of Jordan Kyle

Poor Simon has been sleeping in his van since being ousted from the boatshed by a reluctant Luke. Enter Jordan Kyle with an apartment that is absolutely perfect for Simon. Jordan and Simon immediately hit it off and a new bromance is born.

Episode: Stronger Than Heaven | Malec talk about moving in together

Magnus and Alec went through a rough patch last season but in season three they are back together stronger than ever before. They are committed to each other and to finding a way to work through any challenges as partners. The continued love, respect, and open communication Malec have for each other shines through in this scene. They agree to hold off on moving in together and just enjoy living in the present moment.

Episode: A Window into an Empty Room | Luke and Mayrse reconnect

Were you just as surprised as me at the sparks that flew between Luke and Mayrse when he offers his support to her and tells her she looks lovely? Is this the beginning of a new ship? I’m glad these two are starting over and rekindling their friendship.

Episode: Salt in the Wound | Flashbacks to Maia and Jordan’s relationship

We’ve seen a bit of Maia’s backstory when she was first turned as a werewolf and met Luke for the first time. This time we get a glimpse at her life when she was just a mundane with dreams of becoming a marine biologist and falling in love for the first time.

Episode: A Heart of Darkness | Alec and Isabelle try to save Jace

We’ve seen a bit of Maia’s backstory when she was first turned as a werewolf and met Luke for the first time. This time we get a glimpse at her life when she was just a mundane with dreams of becoming a marine biologist and falling in love for the first time.

Episode: Familia Ante Omnia | Isabelle comforts Simon

After Simon does the unthinkable and feeds on his sister due to the manipulations of crazy vampire Heidi, Isabelle consoles Simon. She tells him, “You’re good a man, Simon Lewis. We’re going to get through this together.” Cue the ship feels! I’ve been patiently waiting for the rise of Sizzy on the show and this one heartfelt moment has sparked the change from a friendship to a romantic relationship. Sizzy is coming in 3B y’all. It’s about damn time!

Episode: Erchomai | The final showdown with Lilith

Magnus arrives just in time to bring Jace back to himself before he can kill Alec, and in the process loses his magic. It’s the price he pays for receiving help from Asmodeus. Simon is able to reach Clary and together they bait Lilith into attacking, and thereby activating the Mark of Cain. As Lilith dies, she witnesses the beginning of Jonathan’s resurrection. Lilith’s death causes the penthouse to explode, and Clary is presumed dead.

Shadowhunters returns to Freeform on February 25th at 8 PM EST/7 PM CST.
